Create STL files online without CAD: 3D model configurator for spare parts and custom parts
You don't need CAD to create a Dimension part with our 3D model configurator (parametric online configurator), you enter dimensions, check the live preview and export the STL online. After that you can use your spare part 3D have printed - e.g. Protective caps (also rectangular)holders, object holders or drilling templates/drilling plates.
What is it?
A parametrischer Online configurator is basically "CAD without drawing": You change parameters (e.g. diameter, wall thickness, depth, hole spacing) - and the 3D model adapts automatically. This is precisely why many users are looking for „3D model configurator“ or „3D configurator“, when they quickly need a Dimension part need.
- when you need a custom replacement part quickly
- when you want to test variants (e.g. 0.2 mm more clearance)
- if you want to create an STL file online without CAD skills
Typical custom parts without CAD
- Protective caps / plugs (also rectangular): for profiles, tubes, furniture, covers.
- holder: hose, cable or device holders and assembly aids.
- Object holder: simple mounts, clips and guides.
- Drilling template / Drilling plate: hole grids, stops and countersinks — repeatable and precise.
- adapterdefine internal/external dimensions, set seat, export STL.
Tip: If you are not sure which template fits, start in the Configurator or write to us briefly via Contact.
Create an STL online: step by step
- Choose a template (e.g. protective cap, bracket, drilling jig or plate).
- Enter dimensions (inner/outer dimensions, depth, wall thickness, hole spacing).
- Allow for tolerance/clearance (siehe Tabelle bottom).
- Check live preview (fit, overhangs, stability).
- export STL and anschließend 3D printed.
tolerances (FDM): fits, die weklich funktionieren
For spare parts, the right Tolerance. These guide values will help you if you are configuring without CAD.
| Fit | Recommended addition | Praxis-Note |
|---|---|---|
| Press fit | +0.10-0.20 mm | For short or small contact surfaces. A test print is recommended. |
| Plug fit | +0.20-0.40 mm | Standard choice for a good fit that can be disassembled. |
| Slip fit | +0.40-0.60 mm | For moving parts or frequently assembled connections. |
Note: Depending on printer, nozzle, material and calibration. For critical parts: print a short test version first.
Material choice: PLA, PETG, ASA, TPU
| Material | Use | Why sinnvoll |
|---|---|---|
| PLA | Innen, prototypes | Detailed, fast and affordable |
| PETG | Allroand-Funktion | Tough, more temperature resistant than PLA |
| ASA | Outdoor/UV | UV-resistant, weatherproof |
| TPU | Flex-parte | Elastic, cushioning, non-slip |
Printing tips for custom-fit spare parts
- Wall thickness: lieber 3–4 Perimeter statt „massiv“ – stabil and oft günstiger.
- Chamfers/Internal radii: make assembly easier and reduce sticking.
- Orientationalign clips/bars so that the layers are not "under tension".
- boreen: often make slightly larger (e.g. +0.1–0.2 mm) to reduce finishing work.
FAQ
Can I really create an STL online without CAD?
Yes, with a 3D model configurator you select a template, enter dimensions and export the STL. You do not need CAD software.
What tolerance do I need for a push fit?
Typically +0.20-0.40 mm (FDM). If it jams: Increase the clearance gradually by 0.1-0.2 mm.
Can I configure a protective cap, including rectangular caps?
Yes, rectangular caps are a common application: define internal dimension + tolerance, select wall thickness, export STL.
Drilling template/drilling plate: What to look out for?
Adopt exact hole spacing, hole diameter usually +0.1 mm, and provide a flat support. Then the template is repeatable.
How starte ich am faststen?
Select template in configurator → enter dimensions → check preview → export STL → 3D order print.
